Alfred T. Hughes, of Piper Road, Benton, died Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born December 25, 1952 in Doylestown, he was a son of the late James David Hughes, Sr., who died July 30, 1984 and Shirley (Schmidt) Hughes, who died July 12, 2009. He and his wife, Melanie G. (Shutta) Hughes, would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on August 13th.
Mr. Hughes was a graduate of Central Bucks East High School in Doylestown and was an auto mechanic by trade. He last worked for the former Baer Ford in Huntington Mills.
He was an active member of the Sons of American Legion, Post 564, Millville. He was also a member of the Royal Order of the Raccoons, of Millville and a social member of the Benton V. F. W. He was also a member of the combined honor guard detail which included the Bloomsburg V. F. W., the Bloomsburg American Legion, the Benton V. F. W. and the Millville American Legion.
An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Melanie, are a daughter, Cherish K. Weeks, of Crestview, Florida. Also surviving are three grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Roxanne Hughes.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James David Hughes, Jr. on March 21, 2009.
