Charles Daniel Litwhiler

June 7, 1954 ~ November 23, 2016 (age 62) 62 Years Old


Charles Daniel Litwhiler, 62, of Hartly, Delaware and formerly of the Benton area, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, November 23, 2016, surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter in Madison Township.

Born June 7, 1954 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, he was a son of Charles and Betty Jean (Dreibelbis) Litwhiler, of Benton.   He and his wife, Helen M. (Savidge) Litwhiler, celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary on June 9th.

Mr. Litwhiler attended Benton Schools and then Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School where he graduated in 1972.  He also graduated from Williamsport Area Community College where he earned his Associate degree. 

He worked as a truck driver and contracted with FedEx for more than 20 years.  Years ago he was a poultry farmer in Derrs which was started by his grandfather, Otto Ford.

Mr. Litwhiler faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army.

He was a member of the Jackson Baptist Church, Derrs.

One of his favorite things to do was to spend time with his grandchildren--they were his pride and joy.

Surviving, in addition to his parents and his wife, Helen, are his five children: Kevin Litwhiler and his companion, Katie, of Laurel, DE; Heather Diehl and her husband, Larry, of Bloomsburg; Lana Towery of Dover, DE; Sharene Crook, of Columbia, PA; Amy Dreese, of Milton; his ten grandchildren;  Corey, Sarah, and Jacob Diehl; Kimber Litwhiler, Carissa and Alexis Towery; Jocelyn Litwhiler-Clark, Jamie and Landon Dreese and Isaiah Clausen; his three siblings:  Larry E. Litwhiler and his wife, Bev, of Benton; ; LeDell Neufer and her husband, Tim, of Berwick; and Catherine Morgan and her husband, Bill, of Dover, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher A. Litwhiler, on September 12, 2007; a brother, Richard L. Litwhiler on January 29, 2013 and his grandparents:  Otto and Sarah Ford and Stuart and Catherine Dreibelbis.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 28th, 2016 at 12 noon at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Rt. 487) with Rev. Walter Minto, Jr. of the Jackson Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the Millville Cemetery.  A Viewing will be held Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service at noon at McMichael's.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA  17701.  Dan's wishes were to have you attend as you are and share happy memories.   For online condolences or for additional information, please visit:  www.mcmichaelfuneralhome.com.
