Charles J. Rider, 59, of Zaners Bridge Road, Stillwater, died Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre.

Born January 11, 1958 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Joyce (Anderson) Wenner, who died June 24, 2016 and Allen Lee Rider. 

Charlie was a 1977 graduate of Central Columbia High School.  He had been employed by Baer Ford, Dura-Bond, and last worked at Wal-Mart in the Deli Department.

He was an EMT for Benton and belonged to the Benton Volunteer Fire Company where he was a life member.  He was also a member of the Huntington Valley Volunteer Fire Company and was a trained photographer for the Fire Department.   He was a member of the State and County Fire Police and the Forestry Crew.   

His hobbies included cooking, mowing grass, fishing and playing cards.  He loved spending time vacationing in Canada.

Surviving are his stepfather, Harry A. Wenner, with whom he made his home; siblings:  Michael Anderson  and his wife, Cathy, of Carlisle; Patty Benson and her husband, Tim, of Coalburn, PA; Kay Russell and her husband, Jim, of Carlisle, and Keith Wenner and his wife, Jennifer, of Glenville, West Virginia.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Rider.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11 AM at St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township, with Pastor Nancy Light Hardy, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Benton Volunteer Fire Company / Ambulance Association, P. O.
