Etta Isabell "Issy" (Harry) Shuman, 102, of Lake Pinecrest, Huntington Township, Shickshinny, died Tuesday morning, June 6th, 2017 at her home.
Born September 27, 1914 in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late James Abel Harry and Mary Rebecca (Crotzer) Harry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. "Joe" Shuman, on April 6, 2013, after 71 years of marriage.
Mrs. Shuman was a 1932 graduate of Berwick High School and had a lengthy career with Bell Telephone where she was a chief operator. She retired in 1972.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Berwick. She had been a member of the Women's Civic Club and the Telephone Pioneers Club of Wilkes-Barre. She was also a former member of the Scenic Knolls Social Club.
Mrs. Shuman enjoyed fishing with her husband, Joe. In her younger years she enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
She was the last member of her immediate family and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She had no children of her own but greatly loved all her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with the family.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by the following siblings: M. Jane Baucher, Elizabeth Busch, Dorothy Knobloch, Helen Schenck, Ruth Harry and John William Harry.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with Pastor Scott L. Lyons, officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick. A Viewing will be held Saturday from 1:30 PM until the time of the service at 2:30 at McMichael's. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Berwick, PA 18603.
