Gudrun "Gertie" (Rappl) Reidinger, 86, formerly of Elk Grove Road, Benton, died late Wednesday evening, August 16th, 2017 at the Gardens at Millville.
Born July 28,1931 in Kelsterbach, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Franz and Gertrud (Heinrich) Rappl. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. "Jim" Reidinger, of 52 years, on November 16, 2006.
Mrs. Reidinger came to the United States in 1957 and became a citizen on July 1, 1960 in Scranton.
She had been employed by Keck's in Bloomsburg, a sewing factory in New Jersey and she had also worked in the cafeteria at the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Mrs. Reidinger attended Christ United Methodist Church, Central. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society in Central, the Sugarloaf Happy Group and the North Mountain Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered for many years for the North Mountain Carnival.
Her hobbies including crocheting afghans and shopping.
Surviving are three brothers, all of Germany: Werner, Norbert and Wilfred Rappl. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews including her niece, Lori Wolfe, of Berwick.
Along with her parents and her husband, Jim, she was preceded in death by six brothers: Hermann, Hanz, Franz, Hubert, Adolf and Manfred Rappl.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 30th, 2017 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with the Rev. Howard W. Leh, officiating. A Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of the Service at McMichael's. Private burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the North Mountain Fire Company, c/o Carol Bernard, 9 Jamison City Road, Benton, PA 17814.
