H. Whittier "Woody" Letteer, 84, of Stillwater, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, October 18, 2016 at his home.

Born January 29, 1932 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, he was the only child of the late H. Gearhart and Faye (Shultz) Letteer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joyce (Fritz) Letteer on September 12, 2015.

He was a 1950 graduate of Benton High School. He had been employed by the Magee Carpet Company of Bloomsburg for 20 years and then delivered oil for Tri-County Oil Company. He last worked for Eastern Milk Producers for 25 years in Quality Assurance, retiring in 1993. He also followed the McHenry Apiaries in Stillwater and carried on the honey making business for a number of years.

Mr. Letteer was an active member of the Benton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where he served as a trustee for several terms, was chairman of the board and served on the Diaconate.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and was a charter member of the Bee Cellar Hunting Club and the Buckwheat Cake Lodge in Shunk.

He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and was a member of the Benton High School Team and played for the former Stillwater Cardinals in the North Branch League for many years.

His hobbies included carving duck decoys, camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are his four sons: Steven M. Letteer, and his wife, Betty, of Derrs; Leonard R. Letteer and his wife, Jan, of Millville; Douglas A. Letteer and his wife, Lisa, of Millville; Kris W. Letteer and his wife, Tami, of Benton; nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his best buddy, Bandit.

The family would like to publicly acknowledge and thank Bob and Joan Bogart and John and Lin Cline for all that they have done for Whittier.

Graveside Services will be held Thursday, October 27th, 2016 at 11 AM at the Benton Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. David A. Mansfield, his Pastor, officiating. The family will be at the graveside from 10:30 AM until the time of the Service to receive friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Benton Christian Church, P. O.
