Kermit C. Moss

Kermit C. Moss, 90, of Moss Road, Benton, died Thursday afternoon, September 22, 2016 at the Bonham Nursing Center.

Born July 25, 1926 in Fairmount Township, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Robert L. "Roy" and Laura May (Downing) Moss.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty R. (Wilkinson) Moss, on July 31st, 2012.

Mr. Moss attended the one room school house in Mossville and later the Huntington Mills High School.  In his earlier years he was employed as a diesel mechanic and then had a dairy farm.  He later was employed as a carpenter for E. Lee Remley, General Contractor, of Benton, and had also worked as a self employed carpenter, retiring in 2010.   

He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II in Germany.

Mr. Moss was a member of the Benton Assembly of God Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and was involved with the maintenance of the Church.  He was a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Association.  

He always had a good story to tell or a joke.  He loved to make people laugh and had an infectious grin.

Surviving are his four children:  Linda Moss and her husband, John Murray, of Pottstown; Elaine L. Moss, of Mossville; Ronald Moss and his wife, Diane, Midland, Texas; Joyce Moss and her husband, Jeff Curry, of Cheltenham.  Also surviving are ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Moss, who died in infancy; a son Richard Moss on September 20, 2014; a grandson, Jeremy Moss on July 1, 2013; two brothers:  Irvin and Samuel Moss, who both died in 2012.

Services will be held Sunday,  September 25th, 2016 at 2 PM at the Benton Assembly of God Church, 3686 S. R. 487, Stillwater, with Pastor Mark Shellenberger, officiating.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Mossville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Benton Assembly of God Church, 3686 S.
