Lois J. (Jenkins) Boiwka, 88, of Old County Road, Benton, died early Tuesday morning, September 26th, 2017, at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born August 16, 1929 in Hanover Township, Luzerne County, she was the daughter of the late William and Stella (Litwinski) Jenkins. She and her husband, Joseph Boiwka, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on February 10th.
Mrs. Boiwka was a 1947 graduate of Huntington Mills High School and was later employed as a bookkeeper at the former Karen Sportswear in Harveyville. She also served as the Fairmount Township secretary for more than 30 years.
She was an active member of the Fairmount Springs United Methodist Church for many years and had served as the church secretary. She was also an active member of the Fairmount Township Fire Company where she was known as the "pie lady".
Mrs. Boiwka enjoyed being a homemaker and was well known for her sewing, baking and gardening.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Joseph, are her two sons: Joseph M. Boiwka and his wife, Lee Ann; Donald A. Boiwka and his wife, Rhonda, all of Benton; four grandchildren: Kelly Dalton (Matt), Nicholas Boiwka, Amanda Keeney (Dan), Katlyn McHenry (Seth); five great grandchildren: Jorja, Jaxon, Jaegen, Madyson and Corbin.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Boiwka, in 1983.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday at 2 P. M. at the Mossville Cemetery with Pastor Michael T. Bodek, her Pastor, officiating. The flowers will be provided by the family. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Fairmount Springs United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., Benton.
