Marian Wech Obituary

Marian Elizabeth Wech, 83 of Stillwater, passed away Monday March 5, 2018 at The Gardens of Orangeville after a few years battling Alzheimer's.

Born March 14, 1934, in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late Henry H. and Dorothy (Collins) Harter. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, George W. Wech on May 12, 2008.

Marian graduated from Berwick Area High School in 1952.  In her younger years she worked at Montgomery Wards, Berwick, where she and her husband George met.  After their marriage on July 4, 1952, they moved to the Harrisburg area where she and George owned a Texaco Service Station for a time as well as other jobs and started a family.  After moving back to this area, she worked in various jobs until she started driving school bus for Ken Rhinard in the Benton Area School District.  She drove "her kids" on the same route for the next 34 years, retiring in 2008.  She was proud of the fact that she started driving the grandkids of the first children she drove to school.

Marian was a former member of Oakdale United Methodist Church, Hunlock Creek and currently a member of Raven Creek Presbyterian Church, Benton serving as church organist at both for many years. Marian and George lovingly raised several foster children over many years. She enjoyed sewing, doing ceramics, she was involved with Benton Little League, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and 4-H Clubs when her children were young.  She was very proud of the fact that she has six Boy Scout Eagle Scouts between her children and grandchildren.

She leaves behind a large family, including five sons and one daughter; James and his wife Donna (Singer) Wech of Mill Hall; Timothy Wech of Millville; John and his wife Diana (Murray) Wech of Knoxville, TN; SuAnn (Wech) and her husband David Zenzel of Bloomsburg; Mark and his wife Connie (Flora) Wech of Stillwater; Matthew Wech, with whom she resided before her illness; also a brother Jack and his wife Gail (Hampton) Harter of Berwick; a brother in law, David Kruppenbach of Shoemakersville.  She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, many with spouses; 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, Marian was also preceded in death by brother in law, William L. Wech; sister in law, Fran (Linden) Wech and sister in law, Shirley (Wech) Kruppenbach.
