Pam and family. I was heart broken when I heard of Joel's passing. He was one special friend to me . I had the great honor of him being my pastor and also being my police department chaplain. He was there for me on many difficult days and thru my illness. During my illness/surgery Joel came to my house with the elders of the church and anointed and prayed over me for healing. Even today I truly believe he played a part in God healing me. Joel was a special person in my life. He taught me a lot about God and what it means to be a Christian. I know God put him in my life for a reason. He was truly a blessing in my life and I will never forget him. Truly a servant of God.
Heaven just got a little sweeter.
God Bless each and everyone .

TO ALL THE STAUFFER FAMILY AND A SPECIAL PRAYER AND LOVE TO JEFF AND TARA. I ALSO HAVE GOOD MEMORIES OF JOEL INCLUDING WHEN HE PLAYED BASEBALL WITH THE STILLWATER CARDINALS. I LAST SAW JOEL WHEN I WAS AT BALANCED CARE AND HE CAME IN TO SEE HIS MOM WHO ALSO WAS THERE. BEST OF ALL, KEEP ALL THE GOOD MEMORIES CLOSE, I KNOW, THEY HELP EASE THE PAIN OF OUR LOSS UNTIL WE ALL MEET AGAIN.

Pam and family, I am so shocked and heart broken to hear of Joel passing. I want you to know what he meant to me, not only as a Police Chaplin but as a special and dear friend. When I first made the rank of chief the department was in turmoil. There was a spirit of divide and almost hate between political factions among what use to be friends. I felt that the world was on my shoulders. So I began to pray that God would send someone to us that would help heal that divide and someone that I could talk to and help give me guidance. God sent Joel. I am so sure of that because he was what I was praying for. Joel would talk with me and pray with me and I would feel peace about what ever the problem was. I bent Joel's ears many a times. Joel also took it a step further when he began publishing a monthly news letter to all the members of the department called the "From the Preachers Pin". Soon the hateful spirit that was in the department was calm down and later gone. I credit all of that to God who sent Joel to the Elizabethton Police Department. I hope you will over look any type O s in this message as I have a hard time focusing on what I am typing threw my tears. I know that you will miss Joel, but remember that we will all see Joel again. Thank you for letting me know of this sad situation. You and your entire family are in my prayers. I wish I could be there to see you and celebrate Joel's live.
Heaven has just got another angel.
Love you all and thanks for sharing Joel with us.
In Christ Love

Our most sincere condolences to the Stauffer family and Joel's congregation. I have grown with the Stauffer family from younger days living on Railroad Street in Bloomsburg and attending the Church of Christ on 4th and West street as a young man. Joel has left a legacy within the Church of Christ and the people whose lives he has touched and guided within his ministry that will never be duplicated or forgotten. Rest in peace my friend. I can only hope to see you again my friend.
Sincerely
