Rick A. Harrison, 58, of Fairmount Springs, died Friday, March 23, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville following a five month battle with cancer.
Born August 14, 1959 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, he was the son of the late Charles H. Harrison, who died September 1, 1995 and Phyllis J. (Young) Harrison, who died April 22, 2014.
Mr. Harrison attended Northwest Area Jr. Sr. High School. He worked as a truck driver for the Stroehmann Bread Company in Hazleton, where he was the union steward for the Teamsters Local 463 for 10 years. He also drove truck for Anchor Motor Freight, Lordstown, Ohio, where he lived for 20 years. He had also lived in Knoxville, Tennessee for several years before moving to Ohio. A lifetime professional truck driver, Mr. Harrison had a record of more than one million miles of safe driving.
He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Oriental Lodge, No. 470, F. & A. M. He was a member of the NRA and an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his son, Jared F. Clark and his fiancée, Tiffany Winkler, of Salem, Ohio; 3 grandchildren: Jason, Hailey and Adalie; sisters: Victoria M. Kidd and her husband, James, of Selinsgrove and their family; Sheila Thompson, of Stillwater, and her family; Diane Elder, of Bainbridge, PA and her family.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Wednesday, March 28th, 2018 at 2 PM at the Fairmount Springs Cemetery with Pastor Scott Lyons, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or the NRA.
