Robert Wambold Keller

December 16, 1937 ~ March 22, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old


Robert Wambold Keller, 79, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 1:55 AM in the Danville Geisinger Medical Center after being admitted on Wednesday, March 15 for complications from Polycythemia Vera (a bone marrow disorder) resulting in Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Bob was born in Souderton, PA, December 16, 1937, the oldest son of Mennonite parents Norman and Mildred Wambold Keller.

After attending Souderton High School, he ran a butter-and-egg route in Mainline Philadelphia. In addition, he worked for The Suburban Fence Company in Philadelphia while running a successful Bestline business.

From 1961–1963, he was an Attendant/Gardener in Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital, Morristown, NJ as a part of his Mennonite alternative service (I-W).

He moved to Berwick in 1973 and opened his own fence company, Suburban Fence in Bloomsburg, PA working until retirement in 1999.

Bob was a founding member of the musical group “Blue Grass Express.” He played the mandolin with Bob Knorr, Berwick and Steve Shellhamer, rural Berwick. They won many awards in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Bob was an Elder and member of the Benton Presbyterian Church.

In 1983, on Shirley Irene Kocher-Keller’s 45th birthday, they were married by Pastor O. Allen Lumpkin Jr. and would have celebrated 34 years of marriage this summer.

He is survived by his wife, Dotyville, and brothers Stanley and Raymond Keller and his sister Esther Cassel and families of the Souderton area. Step-children include John Andrysick and his wife Dr. Mary Ann Knovich, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren: Lauren, Matthew, Christina and Rachel; Jeff Andrysick, Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) and his wife Jodi Andrysick, (ND) owners of HA Funland Market, Keuka Lake area, NY and Lorelei Andrysick, New York City.

Many friends and family will remember fishing in Bob’s pond off Dotyville Road, rural Benton. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, traveling throughout the U. S., Canada and Mexico. One of his favorite memories was catching a giant tuna off the coast of Maui, Hawaii.
