Ronald D."Ron" Taylor, 73, of Mifflinville, died Tuesday evening, May 30th, 2017 at his home.
A lifelong resident of Mifflinville, he was born June 22, 1943 to the late Webster D. and Erma Grace (Lanning) Taylor. He and his wife, Rose B. (Young) Taylor, would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on December 29th.
He was a 1961 graduate of the former Scott High School and then entered the U. S. Air Force. He faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Taylor had been employed by the Berwick Post Office, first as a letter carrier and later as a supervisor, until his retirement in July of 1998. He had also served as a Columbia County Deputy Coroner for the past 23 years.
He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Nescopeck. He was also a member of Oriental Lodge, No. 460, F. & A. M., Orangeville, the Caldwell Consistory of Bloomsburg and the Bloomsburg American Legion.
His hobbies included woodworking, golfing and fishing. He was also an avid deer hunter. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Rose, are his two children: Robin D. Boyer and her husband, Steve, of Nescopeck; Reade D. Taylor and his wife, Anita, of rural Orangeville; four grandchildren: Brianna and her husband, Ryan Morrison; Zachary, Steven and Chelsey; a great granddaughter, Ellie Marie and a brother, Bernard Larue "Skeets" Taylor, and his wife, Guyla, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 5th, 2017 at 10 AM at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick, with the Rev. Craig C. Gommer, his Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with full military honors. A Viewing will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, Columbia County Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
