Roy A. Kilczewski

Roy A. Kilczewski, 82, of rural Benton (Fairmount Township) died Friday, February 17th, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where he had been a patient for four days.

Born December 19, 1934 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Adolph and Helen Kilczewski.  He and his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Duncan) Kilczewski, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on December 30th.

Mr. Kilczewski was a 1952 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia and a 1958 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.  He was employed as a pharmacist during his entire working career and began his career at Hahnemann Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital in Philadelphia.  After moving to the area he worked at the former Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in Kingston and later for the former Sands Pharmacy of Benton and the former Colonial Pharmacy in Benton.  He retired in 1997.

He was of the Roman Catholic faith and was a former member of the Benton Lions Club.  An avid outdoorsman, his hobbies included fishing, hunting and golfing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Betty, are his son, Steven Kilczewski and his wife, Marjorie, of Belcamp, Maryland; four grandchildren;  Kevin Hess and his wife, Kristina; Brett Kilczewski and his wife, Kiersten;  Jacob Kilczewski and Lea Kilczewski.  Also surviving is a son-in-law, Robert A. Hess, Jr., of Benton.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Ann Hess, on May 17, 2014 and by a brother, Richard Kilczewski, in September 2015.

Services will be held Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487). Father David Hereshko, Christ the King Church of Benton, will officiate.  A Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at McMichael's.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Boy Scouts of America, Baltimore Area Council, 701 Wyman Park Drive, Baltimore, MD  21211.
