Sarah J. Grenewich, 72, of Benton, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, September 10, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where she had been a patient for the past three weeks.  She had been in ill health since August 2016.   

Born May 12, 1945 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Edward Simon Nafus, who died September 11, 1985 and June Isabella (Williams) Nafus, who died December 25, 2004.

Sarah was had been employed by the Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for 27 years.

She was known for her love of children and taking in foster children.  She also enjoyed her native American heritage and was an avid bingo player.

Surviving are her four children:  Lisa M. Grenewich and her fiancée, Gary Poore,of Edgewater, MD; Michele L. Cregar, of Benton; Ruth M. Hosterman and her husband, Jamie, of Danville; Autumn L. Grenewich and her fiancée, Michael Hart, Jr., of Orangeville; four grandchildren:  Joseph, Jakob, Dawson and Alivia.  Also surviving are the following siblings:  Edward Simon Nafus, Jr., Wilkes-Barre; George Henry Nafus, of Benton; Miriam Marie Nafus, of Orangeville; James Nafus, of Wilkes-Barre; Ruth Ann Gerhardt, of Benton; Rose Marie Nafus, of Millville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Robert Nafus and a sister who died in infancy, Myra Maureen Nafus.

Services will be held Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at 12 Noon at the McMichael Funeral Home Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487). The Rev. Bethany P. Wood, Town Hill United Methodist Church, will officiate.   A Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 12 noon at McMichael's.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, Columbia County Unit, 1948 E.
