John J. Grendzinski, Jr., 80, of Wapwallopen, died Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.
Born September 1, 1944 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late John J. Grendzinski, Sr. and Lottie Barbara (Dombrowski) Grendzinski.
Mr. Grendzinski was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 25, Marine Division. He was a tug boat captain and a dredgemen operator with 48 years of service.
He was of the Roman Catholic faith. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.
Surviving are his children: Maryann Grendzinski of Benton; Christina "Tina" Grendzinski of Wapwallopen; John J. Grendzinski, III and his wife, Kelly, of Shickshinny; Joseph "Joe" Grendzinski of Benton and James E. Grendzinski and his wife, Amy, of Connecticut. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Brittney, Amanda, Ashley, Jonathan, Maggie, Abbie, Sammi, Alec, Sarah, Casey, Joseph, Owen and Oliver; seven great grandchildren and siblings: Richard, Steven, Susan and Christopher Grendzinski.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Marie A. (McNelis) Grendzinski, who died November 30,2008; grandson, Brian A. O'Handley, Jr., on July 27, 2008; a sister, Roseann and a brother, James.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the convenience of the Family at Christ the King Catholic Church, 300 Mendenhall Lane, Benton, with Father Andrew St. Hilaire, as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Sugarloaf Township. Contributions may be made in his memory to Christ The King Catholic Church, P. O. Box 297, Benton, PA 17814.
