Alma P. (Pooley) Brewer

Alma P. (Pooley) Brewer, 95, of Fir Street, Orangeville, died early Sunday morning, June 30th, 2019 Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Bloomsburg, where she had been a resident since May 31st.

Born January 24, 1924 in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Mabel (Beagle) Pooley.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Doyle Harrison Brewer, on February 2, 2015. 

Mrs. Brewer was a graduate of the former Scott High School.  She had worked part time for the Orangeville Post Office. 

Following her husband's retirement from the US Postal Service, they and their two sons went to the Philippines, serving as missionaries with New Tribes Missions for seven years. 

Mrs. Brewer was a longtime and active member of the Ebenezer Faith Bible Church. She was also the secretary for the local Child Evangelism Fellowship and was a member and volunteer of the Bloomsburg Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.   She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Surviving are her son, Richard "Rick" Brewer, of Orangeville; two daughters-in-law:  Joan Brewer of Bloomsburg and Kelly Brewer of Orangeville; a son-in-law, Robin Bogert, of Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Doyle, she was preceded in death by three children:  Chris W. Brewer on December 10, 2018; Dian Bogert on June 20, 2017 and Scott Brewer on June 20, 2018; two great grandsons:  Robert and Matthew Martz and by a brother, Harold Pooley.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 5, 2019 at 11 A. M. at Ebenezer Faith Bible Church, 630 State Route 93, Berwick, with Pastor Mike Massey, officiating.   Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, North Centre Township.  Visitation will be held Friday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Ebenezer Faith Bible Church, 630 State Route 93, Berwick, PA 18603.
