Anne (Rowan) Taber, 93, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Gardens at Millville Nursing Home.
She had recently moved to Benton from Chesterton, Indiana and was an executive secretary for Continental Bank in Chicago from 1974 until her retirement in 1998.
Born in Shotts, Scotland on April 28, 1925, she was the daughter of Alexander B. Rowan and Cecilia I. (Burt) Rowan and immigrated to Wallingford, Connecticut with her mother in 1932. Her father arrived previously in 1930.
She was a career secretary, beginning at Choate School, now Choate/Rosemary Hall. She married Rufus H. Taber on September 6, 1948 and had one son, Robert Alexander Taber, born on September 2, 1950.
She went on to work at Yale Medical School in New Haven, Connecticut, from 1958 to 1972. She was also a member of "The Daughters of Scotia", from 1970 to 1972.
One of her greatest achievements was to help found the Vacuum Cleaner Collector's Club in January of 1983.
She is survived by her son, Alex Taber of Benton.
No services are planned at this time and interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford, Connecticut at a future date.
