Arlene Fisher Obituary

Arlene (Bankes) Fisher, 90, of Main Street, Orangeville, died late Monday evening, July 2nd, 2018 at the Brookdale Rehab Center, Bloomsburg where she had been a resident since April 17, 2015.

Born July 26, 1927 in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of the late Byron Bankes and Lucille (Derr) Bankes Gearinger.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond A. Fisher, on May 8, 2010.

She was a 1945 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and had been employed by the former Char-Mund Nursing Home in Orangeville and Klingerman Nursing Center, now known as The Gardens at Orangeville, retiring in 1987.

Mrs. Fisher had been an active member of the Orangeville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed helping in the kitchen for the church activities. 

She enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for her cooking and baking.  She volunteered with the Girls Scouts in her younger years and was an avid card player and belonged to the community card club for many years.  She was also an avid Phillies, Eagles and Penn State sports fan.

Surviving are her two grandsons:  Mark R. Fisher and his wife, Leigh, of San Antonio, Texas; Evan J. Fisher, of Naples, Florida and two great grandsons:  Jayce and Matthew Fisher.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Fisher in 1992 and by a brother, Joseph Bankes. 

Graveside Services will be held Thursday, July 12th, 2018 at 10 AM at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville, with the Rev. Ellen B. Scamahorn, her Pastor, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Orangeville United Methodist Church, P. O.
