Darlene F. (Sacks) Hess, 51, of S. R. 239, Benton, died Thursday, May 25th, 2017 at her home.  She had been in failing health for the past year and seriously ill for the past month.

Born January 4, 1966 in Bristol, Bucks County, she was a daughter of Audrey L. (Vaneekhoven) Sacks, of Benton and the late Harry B. Sacks, who died November 7, 1984.

Darlene attended Benton schools and was a graduate of Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School.  She was also a graduate of Eastern Christian College in Bel Air, Maryland where she earned her bachelor of arts degree in Music with a minor in Biblical studies.  While at Eastern, she was a member of the college choir, "Heaven Bound".

She had been employed as a teacher's aide for the Columbia Montour Child Development (Head-Start Program).

Darlene was a very active member of the Stillwater Christian Church where she was very involved with the Praise Team.  She also assisted with the annual Vacation Bible School program.

Her hobbies included music, scrapbooking, art, cooking, baking and gardening.  She also was a faithful caregiver to her mother, Audrey, her children, Josh and Hollie and to her head-start children.

Surviving, in addition to her mother are her two children:  Hollie N. Hess and Joshua R. Hess, both at home; her siblings:  Kenneth R.Sacks, of Bloomsburg; Terry A. Sacks, of Benton; Cindy L. Pennypacker, and her husband, Donald R., of Benton; a niece, Shannon Sacks, of Bloomsburg and a nephew, Jason Howell, of Benton.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mary C. Sacks.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 at 11 AM at the Stillwater Christian Church, 39 McMichael Street, Stillwater with Pastor Jeff Farley, officiating.  Private burial will be in the Lungerville Cemetery, Jordan Township.  A Viewing will be held Tuesday morning from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to a fund for her children and sent to:  Cindy L. Pennypacker, 1295 S.
