Derl Kile Obituary

Derl E. Kile, 68, of Greenwood Township, died late Thursday evening, June 13, 2019 at his home.

Born September 5, 1950 in Danville, he was a son of the late Oliver H. Kile, who died February 22, 2008 and Leona V. Kile, who died December 15, 2007.  He and his wife, Karen K. (Treon) Kile, celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on November 13th.

Derl graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1968.  He then graduated from Geisinger School of Radiology in 1971.  He was employed at Geisinger for 32 years, working as a radiology tech and later as an instructor and supervisor of General Diagnostic Radiology, retiring in 2007.  He touched the lives of students, patients and co-workers, alike.

He enjoyed hunting, kayaking and being outdoors.  He believed in living life and adventures rather than reading about them.

His greatest accomplishments were his three daughters and seven grandchildren with whom he would share adventures of his youth and teaching life lessons.

Surviving, in addition to his wife are his three daughters:  Jessica Temple and her husband, Shannon; Jennifer Zeisloft and her husband, Aaron, and Katie Kile; seven grandchildren:  Caleb and Caden Temple, Olivia Kile, Faith, Calla, Mabel and Haven Zeisloft.  He is also survived by two brothers: Harlan Kile; Kermit Kile and his wife, Veronica, and by a sister, Dawn Szoke and her husband, Steve; brothers-in-law:  Ken, Steve and his wife, Cathy; Jeff and his wife, Robin, Greg and his wife, Maria Treon and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will also be missed by longtime friends from his days of "riding with the Indians" to newer friendships forged since his retirement as well, including the "Table of Knowledge" at the Alley Cat and the gang at Moe's.

The family would like to thank the staff at Geisinger Medical Center, Encompass Health, Geisinger at Home, Geisinger Hospice, and his wonderful caregivers from Nan's Girls, as well as many neighbors, friends and family.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton, with the Rev. Robert W. Strozyk, officiating.  Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township.   Viewing, Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11 at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
