Our mothers were with us a long time . It does not make their passing any easier but it does give us many happy memories. My deepest sympathy.

While living in Mifflinburg Betty faithfully attended the United Methodist Church. She was loved and respected by all members of our congregation. Our sympathy and prayers are extended to Betty's family as they grieve the loss of a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.

When Mom relocated to Mifflinburg she had a list of churches that she wanted to attend to see where she would best fit in. While driving around on her first Sunday morning (Mother's Day) in her new home town we got turned around and were unable to find the first church on her list. We drove by Mifflinburg UMC as the morning bells were ringing. With the help of the ushers, a warm welcome from all in the pews around her and a gift of a potted flower, we found our way to our seats. At the end of the service she remarked "I don't think that I have to look any further, I have found my new church home".
Thanks from our family to all who welcomed Mom and nurtured her in Christ's Love. May God's Peace be with you,
Keith McCahan

Cathy Manning informed me of Aunt Betty's passing. Keith, I liked your message. I did much the same when looking for a church when Mom and I moved to Delaware. My mother was Dorothy Eleanore Helf Smith, daughter of Harold and Ruth McCahan Helf. I know that my mother thought highly of Aunt Betty. We sent her Christmas cards while she lived in Benton until she moved and we no longer had her address. My brother also went to Vietnam Nam after graduating from West Point in '64. I know he went to the "Wall" and traced Marlin's name as well as Lee's. Please share our condolences with the rest of your family. Aunt Betty will be remembered with love.
