Ellen J. (Harrison) Birns, 74, of Benton, died Monday morning, August 28th, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 5, 1943 in Paterson, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Ellen (Schoonejongen) Harrison.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Raymond T. Birns, on June 24, 2010.

Mrs. Birns had been employed by the First National Bank of Lake Ariel.  She and her husband were also known for their horse farm where they raised standard-bred race horses.  

She was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church of Paterson, New Jersey.

Her hobbies included fishing kayaking, and canoeing. 

Surviving, are her son, Ardin R. Birns and his wife, Glenna, of Benton and a brother, Wayne Harrison and his wife, Carolyn, of Oakland, New Jersey.

Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association, 55 W.
