Gene E. Oman, 82, of Mt. Pleasant Township, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, July 10, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following a brief illness.
Born October 14, 1936, in Millertown, Mt. Pleasant Township, he was a son of the late Fred R. and Christine E. (Funk) Oman. He and his wife, Dora M. (Leiby) Oman, celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on March 31st.
Mr. Oman was a 1954 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. He then faithfully served his country in the U. S. Air Force from January 10, 1955 to December 1, 1958.
He was employed by Merck Pharmaceutical Company as a mechanic and a mechanical supervisor from 1971 until he fully retired in 1998. Following his retirement he owned and operated Eagle Enclosures and also worked part time at the Columbia County Court House.
Mr. Oman was a long time member of Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia where he had served as a deacon and an elder for more than 30 years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Dora, are his two children: David A. Oman and his wife, Susan, of Bloomsburg and Lynn M. Belles and her husband, Paul L., of Bloomsburg; thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Gross, of Bloomsburg and a sister-in-law, Mary Oman, of Mt. Pleasant Township.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan V. (Davis) Oman on December 12, 2010; a daughter, Susan G. Fagan, on May 9, 2010; a brother, Harvey Oman in 1995 and a sister, Ruth Kressler in 2016.
A private family viewing will be held at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., Benton with a graveside service at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge with Military Honors.
A public service will be held Saturday, July 13th, 2019 at 11:30 A. M. at Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, his Pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Mission Fund, Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
