Harry J. Dunn

       Harry J. Dunn, age 79, of Benton, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Harry lived in Benton since 1991 and previously resided in Mt. Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada.

      He was born on Friday, November 17, 1939 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, a son of the late Harry J. and Emma T. (Rumsey) Dunn.  On September 9, 1961, Harry married his loving wife, the former Geraldine C. "Gerry" O'Donnell.

      Harry was employed as a construction worker in Canada for many years retiring in 1991, when he moved to Benton.  He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, Benton.  Harry enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great granddaughter.

      Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ruth M. Chafe.

      Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Geraldine C. "Gerry" Dunn; two daughters, Teresa E. wife of George M. Foster and Sharon L. Simmons and fiancé’ Joseph Cole, all of Benton, five grandchildren; Brad E. Vincent and wife Morgan of Benton, Laura A., wife of Jake Shoemaker of Berwick, Daniel D. Simmons, David J. Simmons and Jeremy M. Foster, all of Benton, a great granddaughter Kylie B. Shoemaker of Berwick, a brother Kevin F. Dunn of Sarasota, FL, a very close cousin, Bernice wife of John Bemister of Mt. Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada, and many nieces and nephews.

       A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S.R. 487).

      Funeral services will begin on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., with Pastor Michael Delp, Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice Chaplain, officiating.

       In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice, 109 West 9th St., Berwick, PA 18603.
