Harry l. Ritter

Harry L. Ritter, 87, of Benton, died Monday evening, April 24th, 2017. 

Born December 12, 1929 in Barrett, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Mac and Helen (Shipman) Ritter.  He and his wife, Shirley A. (Shaffer) Ritter, were married on June 3, 1950.

Mr. Ritter was a graduate of Hughesville High School.  He owned and operated Ritter's Nursery and then worked for Robert Vincent Inc. building golf courses for 18 and a half years.  He last worked for JDK Management for 18 years until his retirement.

He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Air Force in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant.

Mr. Ritter was a member of the Benton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the N. R. A.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Shirley, are his three children:  Sharon Remphrey, of Danville; Garry Ritter and his wife, Beth Ann, of Benton and Nancy Remphrey.  Also surviving are the following grandchildren:  Tech Sgt. Taylor Remphrey, Emalee Lear, Emily Smith, Jenny Hall, and Kristin Ritter.  Also surviving are the following great grandchildren:  Blake and Shea Elizabeth Remphrey; Jayden and Anthony Vera; James, Alex and Lexi Hall.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at 2 PM at the Benton Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. David A.
