Hubert W. Mulaney

Hubert W. Mulaney, 91, formerly of Thunderbird Road, Stillwater, Benton Township, and more recently of Brookdale, Bloomsburg, died late Friday evening, July 26th, 2019 at Grandview Health Homes, Danville.

Born March 6, 1928 in Honesdale, Wayne County, he was a son of the late Francis J. and Madeline (Terrel) Mulaney.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Hilda Mae (Hess) Mulaney on June 30, 2014. 

Mr. Mulaney owned and operated a poultry and pig farm in Benton Township for many years.  He huckstered the eggs from his farm up to the Wilkes-Barre area.  He had also worked for Bloomsburg University for more than 20 years, retiring around 1993. 

He served his country in the U. S. Army for three years, spending most of that time in Germany.

Mr. Mulaney enjoyed going out to eat and he loved farm tractors.

Surviving, are his daughter, Diane M. Derr and her husband, Gerald, of Bloomsburg; two grandsons:  Jeff Derr and his wife, Irene; Mike Derr and his wife, Beth; seven great-grandchildren:  Sean, Hunter, Hailey, Sarah, Kearsten, Zeke and Logan and his two great-great-grandchildren:  Marcel and Ava.

Along with his parents and wife, Hilda, he was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Mulaney in 1994.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, being preceded in death by the following siblings:  Elwin F. Mulaney, on March 30, 2010; Leon C. Mulaney, in 2009; Alta Shepherd in 1998; Kenneth Mulaney in 1931; Robert Mulaney in 1933; Edward Mulaney in 1948 and by a brother that died in infancy in 1932.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 1st, 2019 at 11 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R.487) with Pastor Scott L. Lyons, officiating.  Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township with Military Honors.  A Viewing will be held Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 at McMichael's.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  For additional information or for online condolences, please visit:  www.mcmichaelfuneralhome.com
