Jane H. (Mowery) Leiby

Jane H. (Mowery) Leiby, 89, of Legion Road, Bloomsburg, died early Tuesday morning, April 17th, 2018 at her home under the care of Geisinger Home Health and Hospice. 

Born May 14, 1928 at home on Fisherdale Road, Elysburg, she was a daughter of the late Harold Lester Mowery and Opal Irene Billman Mowery.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bertlett Leroy Leiby, on June 20, 2017. 

Mrs. Leiby attended the Fisherdale School in Cleveland Township and had been employed as a trimmer in the garment industry for many years, retiring in 1978.

She was an active member of the Catawissa First United Methodist Church. 

Mrs. Leiby enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for her cooking and baking.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving, are a son, Bert L. Leiby and his wife, Sue, of Bloomsburg and a daughter, Bonnie Leiby, also of Bloomsburg; five grandchildren:  Michael Leiby, Douglas Leiby, Heidi Paulson, Kristi Pennypacker, and Brandi Bacon; four great grandchildren:  Alexa and Chase Paulson; Brick and Brody Bacon; a brother, Wayne Mowery, of Bloomsburg; a nephew, whom they helped to raise, Neil Mowery and his wife, Cheryl, of Iowa, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are sister-in laws:  Esther, wife of Doyle Snyder, of Bloomsburg; Dora, wife of Gene Oman, of Bloomsburg; Velma Leiby, of Danville and Nancy Leiby, of Elysburg.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers:  Harold and Jay Mowery; and three sisters:  Audrey Longenberger, Jean Ramsey (her twin) and Reba Stine.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 23rd, 2018 at 11 AM at the Catawissa First United Methodist Church, 228 South Street, Catawissa with her Pastor, Rev.
