I worked with "Jack" at Schwartz & Sons for a couple of years in the early 1980s. He was an expert truck mechanic and I began there as a service writer. Nothing ever seemed to upset or fluster Jack; his even-keeled temperament was a balm in what was often a hectic atmosphere. Jack's smile was indeed genuine, and he was a real gentleman.
I'm just now finding his obituary online (in 2022).
I'm glad to see how respected he was in other areas of his life also, and that he lived to an advanced age. Wishing his family peace.

Oh, the smile!!! Johnny you had a great smile, a heart of gold and you spread so much joy to everyone. You will be so sadly missed. I am sure you and Teg Wenner are together and joking around. Our deepest condolences to Smitty and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time...

We will surely miss his stories, laughter, and kindness. He was a social butterfly. Michael Curtis and I have talked about how Teg and Johnny took care of him during church, while I played either the piano or organ. Smitty kept him in Tic Tacs. Thanks to good hearted neighbors. Blessings to Smitty and family.

Daddy (Papa),
We tried to save you and keep you here with us, but God had other plans for you. You are saved! What more could we want? Please watch over us, Mom especially, that we might feel your presence. I’ll look for you in the garden and in the warmth of the sun. I’ll always love you and promise to emulate all of your good and caring ways. Until we are together again, Rest In Peace knowing you are missed and loved ...
Forever,
Jeanne (Baby Doll)

I met John and his wife Smitty when they needed help with their cats. What a wonderful, loving couple I thought. I got to know them through the years and I appreciated their friendship. John was sweet and funny---a real nice guy. God Bless the Kitson family and especially Smitty.
