Josephine K. (Hess) Houck

Josephine K. (Hess) Houck, 86, formerly of Waller  Road, Benton, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Gardens of Orangeville.

Born May 12, 1931 in Waller, Jackson Township,  she was a daughter of the late Joseph E. Hess, who died June 9, 1970 and Kathryn M. (Fritz) Hess, who died September 12, 2006.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John H. Houck, on April 8, 2004.

Mrs. Houck attended Benton High School and had been employed by the U. S. Radium Plant in Bloomsburg for 42 years, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of the Waller United Methodist Church.

Surviving, are her three children:  Linda M. Karnes and her husband, David, of Lightstreet; Joseph W. Houck and his wife, Kathy, of Benton; Annette L. Houck, of Benton; a granddaughter, Tracy Doreskewicz and her husband, Ed, of Benton; a grandson, Kevin Karnes and his wife, Pam, of Millville; three great grandsons:  Christopher Karnes, Jonathan Karnes and Austin Doreskiewicz.  Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters:  Robert L. Hess and his wife, Jean, of Benton; Gale E. Hess and his wife, Jacqueline, of Benton; Gloria Y. Harvey and her husband, James E., of Benton; Charlotte E. Assalone and her husband, Ralph, Salisbury, Maryland and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Marie Hess, who died in childhood.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with her brother-in-law, Pastor James E. Harvey, officiating.  Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township.  A Viewing will be held Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Waller United Methodist Church, P.
