Joyce C. (Houseweart) Smith

Joyce C. (Houseweart) Smith, 78, of Waterville, and formerly of the Berwick and the Benton area, died Sunday, November 17th, 2019 at UPMC, Williamsport.

Born May 15, 1941 in Huntington Mills, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Arthur Houseweart and Glenda O. (Comstock) Houseweart Furtak.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Victor William Smith, on August 25, 1997.

Joyce attended Benton schools.  She enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for her cooking and baking.  She also was an avid walker, birdwatcher and loved watching wildlife.   

Surviving, are her companion, David Molnar, of Waterville; five children:  Tammy Jo Hendricks and her husband, Doyle, of Catawissa; Rae Jean Machuga and her husband, Michael, of Jonestown; Kelly J. Bennett and her husband, John, of Berwick; Jeffrey L. Smith and his wife, Joy, of Lock Haven; Victoria J. Hileman and her husband, Mark, of Nescopeck; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her siblings:  Gerald "Jerk" Houseweart, of Benton; Bonnie Young, of Benton; Linda Steele, of Berwick; Barry "Duke" Houseweart and his wife, Jill, of Benton; Mary Ann Young and her husband, Michael, of Orangeville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are her stepson, Jerry L. Smith and his wife, Dawn, of Berwick; two step grandsons and six step great grandsons.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Anthony Furtak; a granddaughter, Deana Reedy and by a brother, Larry R. Houseweart.

Services will be held Saturday, November 30th, 2019 at 2 P. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S.
