Mrs. Hess & family, My deepest sympathy to you. Karl, was a great man and he will be
missed. He was one of the best neighbors around. I remember, him bailing hay for us,
it seemed like their was ever a discussion about,m when he could do it. If my dad, would
ask. He was right their. I am sorry, that I was gone, when your son was born and I missed
the hoops in the barn. That must of been so much fun for the kids in the area. Remember,
you are always in my prayers. I just found out today of his passing. He was a good neighbor and always fair. I know Teddy, really loved him. I do remember helping some
on the farm. But, I was not a farmer and I hated picking rocks. It seemed as you picked rocks more would show up. Anyway, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
God Bless you. Thank you for all the Hess'es did for the Wojciechowski. Peace and Love,
Henry Wojciechowski

Growing up, I had the privilege to have Mr. Hess as my neighbor. What a wonderful neighbor to have! Mr. Hess was a long time friend of my father and our entire family. He was always kind and generous to us. I know my Dad counted him as a lifelong friend and was grateful for his friendship and his kindness. My Dad spent a lot of time on the Hess farm; and, enjoyed his time with Karl. I'm sure my Dad learned a great deal about farming from Karl, and in turned loved to farm as well. My Dad always looked forward to his annual trip with Karl to the Pennsylvania Farm Show--it always seemed to be a great adventure for both of them. They also had many other fun adventures going to farm sales together. My Dad had a lot of fun stories to tell about his time with Karl, and the remarkable point of every story was Karl's wise words of wisdom. Roger and I are grateful for the times Roger got to join in this fun and friendship! Mr. Hess always taught us a good lesson to learn! Mr. Hess was generous in his lending my Dad farm equipment so he could be successful in his small farming operation efforts. When my Dad's tractor or snow plow was not operational--Mr. Hess plowed our driveway. He would accept no gift or money--he just did it because he was a good neighbor. When Karley, his only son, showed interest in baseball, he set up a baseball field in the front yard to play baseball--every child in the neighborhood was welcome to come play. When Karley's interest turned to basketball, Mr. Hess turned his barn into a basketball court. He installed regulation size and height baskets---we played there many a cold winter night with Karley. Again, all children in our rural neighborhood were welcome. We all played there and loved it--and had the opportunity to develop some sporting skills! (thank you, Mr. Hess for that!) I remember Mr. Hess gathering us up at Christmastime in his hay wagon to go Christmas caroling; and we ended up at the Hess home for hot chocolate and goodies. Mr. Hess watched over all of us in that hay wagon making sure we were all safe. Mr. Hess gave my Mom a ride to the hospital when my younger sister was on her way because my Dad was working--he got her there safe and sound. He also gave my Mom a ride several times to visit my Dad in the hospital in Allentown when he was severely burned---I know Mr. Hess wanted to make sure my Dad was alright and on his way to recovery and getting back home. It's been an honor to know and live next to Mr. Karl Hess---he is indeed a shining example of an exceptional neighbor and friend to have in life. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Hess and Karly--I know you will greatly miss him. Prayers, hugs, and love to all of you. What a remarkable man I've had the privilege to know--thank you for sharing him, Mrs. Hess and Karly--how grateful I am for this friendship. Fondly, Cheryl Ann Wojciechowski Flint & Roger Flint
