Leonard Joseph Leger, 80, of Waller and Bartow, Florida died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Hospital, Lakeland, Florida.
Born July 18, 1937 in New Brunswick, Canada, he was a son of the late Joseph and Alice (Donelle) Leger. He and his wife, Mary (Gilbert) Whitman, were married on December 13, 2012.
Mr. Leger worked as a grocery manager for 26 years in Canada and after that owned and operated his own business, sales and service of batteries and alternators for big equipment.
He loved music and was a talented guitarist and singer. He was also a woodworker and known as "Mr. Fix-It".
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mary, are his daughter, Karen Matthews and her husband, Mark, of Dieppe, New Brunswick; a son, John Leger, of Moncton, New Brunswick; a granddaughter, Katrina Leger, of Moncton, New Brunswick; a sister, Justine Malliet and two brothers: Iren'ee and Odule Leger, all of the Moncton, New Brunswick area.
Also surviving are his seven step children: Fred Reeb and his wife, Kerri; Neil Reeb; Jeffrey Reeb and his wife, Kathy; Brent Reeb and his wife, Sandra; Deborah Weight and her husband, James; Charlene Vaughan and her husband, Dennis; Todd Reeb and his wife, Julie as well as fourteen step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at 10 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with the Rev. Dr. David A. Mansfield, Benton Christian Church, officiating. Private burial will be in the Waller Cemetery.
