Letha M. (Peterman) Smith, 98, of Greer, South Carolina and formerly of the Benton area, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Oakleaf Village in Greer, South Carolina.

Born June 30, 1915 in Benton, she was a daughter of the late James Tilden and Murtis Delphine (Sterner) Peterman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion R. Smith, on May 10, 2000.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed being a homemaker and her hobbies included ceramics, crafts, knitting, crocheting and sewing.

Surviving are her two sons: Marion R. Smith, of Orangeville and Rodney R. Smith, of Greenville, SC; 4 grandchildren: Tracy, Jeffrey, Kelly and Courtney; her two great grandchildren: Rylie and Rory; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Peterman, Benton and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann Smith; siblings: James Emanuel "Jim" Peterman, Jack Kenneth Peterman, Elizabeth Cornell, George Roland Peterman and Elma Eckroth.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with the Rev. Howard W. Leh, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, Central, officiating. Burial will be in the Benton Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Friday morning from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11 at McMichael's.
