Lois M. (Yaple) Allegar, 97, formerly of Bendertown Road, Stillwater, died Tuesday afternoon, November 14, 2017 at the Bonham Nursing Center, where she had been a resident for the past five years.

Born February 4, 1920 in New Columbus Borough, she was a daughter of the late William and Bertelle (Hayman) Yaple.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert W. "Bob" Allegar, on January 7, 2013.

Mrs. Allegar was a graduate of Benton High School.  She taught school at Northwest, Benton, Central Columbia and Lehman School Districts.  She last taught physical education at the Northwest Area School District, retiring in 1974.

She was a very active member of the St. James United Church of  Christ where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a member of the
Women's Guild of the Church and was very involved with the various church functions and activities.

She was also a longtime President of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.

Surviving are her daughter, Kay L. Smith and her husband, Edward, of Orangeville; two grandchildren;  Wade Greenly and his wife, Melissa, of Bendertown and Heather Ellsworth and her husband, Peter, of Whitefish, Montana.  Also surviving are two brothers:  Harold Yaple and his wife, Betty, of Stillwater and William Yaple, of Houtzdale. 

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Eva Clinebell and Erma Eveland as well as a brother, Wayne Yaple.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 11 A.M. at St. James United Church of Christ, 443 Zaners Bridge Road, Stillwater, with Pastor  Mark Rowell, officiating.  Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.  A viewing will be held  Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. James United Church of Christ, 443 Zaners Bridge Road, Stillwater, PA 17878.
