Loraine Laubach Obituary

Loraine (McQuown) Strong Laubach, 86, died Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 at the Gardens at Orangeville where she had been a resident since September 7th.

Born August 10, 1932 in Shickshinny, she was a daughter of the late Frank McQuown Sr. and Merle (Miller) McQuown.  She was also preceded in death by her two husbands:  James Albert Strong, Jr. in 1970 and Thomas W. Laubach in1998.

Mrs. Laubach was a 1950 graduate of Shickshinny High School.  She was employed as the business manager for the Northwest Area School District for many years and then worked for the Law Offices of Bull and Bull in Berwick until her retirement. 

She was a lifelong Christian and was involved with various churches including Emmanuel Bible Chapel and Shiloh Bible Church as well as many Bible Studies over the years.

Mrs. Laubach was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting, gardening, game nights and she was an avid sports fan.  In her younger years, she received first place in the State of Pennsylvania for her sewing abilities.

Surviving are her daughter, Jamie A. Strong and her husband, Rev. William Carter, of Clarks Summit; four grandchildren:  Joshua Urso, Lauren Urso and her husband, Joe Iacovazzi, Katie Carter and Meg Carter; a brother, Robert McQuown and his wife, Cathy, of Berwick; a sister, Melanie Diltz and her husband, Richard, of Shickshinny.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews including Anne Decker and her husband, Bill and Michael McQuown and his wife, Rebecca, for whom she had a special affection.

Along with her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by the following siblings:  Addison McQuown, Margaret Gray, Philip McQuown, June Greenly, Betty Edwards, Jolene Texidor and Frank McQuown, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Shickshinny.  Burial will be in Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn.  A Viewing will be held Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487).  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 57 N.
