Louis P. Mazzuca, of Talmar Road, Benton, died Sunday morning, August 13th, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born May 31, 1934 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Ralph and Angelina (Boccuto) Mazzuca.  He and his wife, Anna Marie (Valletta)  Mazzuca, would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on October 1st.

Mr. Mazzuca was employed by General Electric as an aero space technician.  He was part of the team from General Electric that worked on the rocket that sent the first monkey into space orbit in 1961.  After moving to the Benton area, he worked as a farmer and was a master craftsman in woodworking.    

He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army, as a Sergeant in the 24th Infantry, Medical Aid Station in Korea. 

Along with woodworking, he was an avid hunter and grew Christmas trees.

He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church of Benton.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Anna Marie, are his three children:  Diana D. Brown, of Muncy; Anita M. Kramer, of Millville and David L. Mazzuca and his wife, Shelley, of West Friendship, MD.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a sister, Connie Rizzi, of Philadelphia. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers:  Frank, Leonard and Joseph Mazzuca.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 19th, 2017  at 10 A.  M. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton, with Father Richard Mowery, as Celebrant.  A Visitation will be held at the Church from 9 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10.  Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park with military honors.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Christ The King Catholic Church, P. O. Box 297, Benton, PA 17814.
