Margaret Stuehrk Obituary

Margaret L. "Peg" Stuehrk, 91, of Green Creek Road, Benton (Waller) died Monday morning, January 22, 2018 at Maria Joseph Manor, Danville.

Born January 21, 1927 in Jasper, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Otto and Florence (Joseph) Fierst.  She and her husband, Carl F. Stuehrk, would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on June 23rd.

Mrs. Stuehrk was a graduate of Jasper High School in Jasper, Indiana and then attended St. Mary's of the Woods College, in Terre Haute, Indiana.

In addition to raising her four children, while moving numerous times, Peg also worked in a hardware store in her younger years and then in a real estate office in Wycoff, N. J.

Mrs. Stuehrk was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Benton.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and while living in New Jersey was active with the Valley Hospital Ladies Auxiliary in Ridgewood, New Jersey.  Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, antiques and sewing.

Along with her husband, she is survived by four children:  Christine M. Luttrell and her husband, David, of Benton; Mary S. Toth and her husband, Robert, of Breckenridge, Colorado; Robert C. Stuehrk and his wife, Dawn, of Centennial, Colorado; Thomas J. Stuehrk and his wife, Louise, of Benton.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Fierst and by a sister, Betty Salb.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 300 Mendenhall Lane, Benton with Father Richard J. Mowery, as Celebrant.  Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery.  A Visitation will be held at the Church Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass at Christ the King.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Bloomsburg University Foundation, c/o Stuehrk Scholarship, 50 East Main Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
