Marian E. (Spencer) Remley, 87, of rural Benton, Jackson Township, died early Wednesday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where she had been a patient since May 4th.
Born November 20, 1931 in Fairmount Springs, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Lena (Beishline) Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Edward Remley, on April 23, 1992.
Mrs. Remley attended Fairmount Springs Grade School and then Huntington Mills High School. She began her work career in 1948 at the former Dockey Shirt Factory in Benton and later worked for Milco Industries in Benton until the plant closed. She then transferred to the Bloomsburg Milco where she worked until she retired in February 2002.
She was an active member of the Divide Union Church where she served on the Church Board, on the communion committee and the grounds committee. She was also a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Her hobbies were hunting, Penn State football, tractor pulling, and quilting.
Surviving are her two children: Donald L. Remley and his wife, Esther, of Benton and a daughter, Donna J. Remley (Scott Vandine), of Muncy Valley; two grandchildren: Eric Remley, of Benton and Kristina Parks, of Bloomsburg; a great granddaughter, Brooke Remley, of Danville. Also surviving is her sister, Barbara Bonham and her husband, Paul, of Mossville and her good friend and companion, Russell Seward, of Benton along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, and her husband, Ed, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth D. Remley, on September 14, 2018; a grandson, Jeremy T. Remley, on September 19, 2010 and by the following siblings: Lawrence "Roy" Spencer, Ray Spencer, Erma Zubris, Evelyn Comstock, Paul Spencer, Iva Mae Conner, Nola Taylor, John Spencer, Ruth Wagner, and Betty Flanagan.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 20th, 2019 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with Daniel Inman, officiating. Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township. A Viewing will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 PM and Monday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at the Funeral Home.
