Mary K. (Thomas) Kocher

Mary K. (Thomas) Kocher, 94, of rural Orangeville, died Monday afternoon, November 11, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born  October 28, 1925 in Orangeville, she was a daughter of the late Harold D. and Helen R. (Seesholtz) Thomas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. "Tuddy" Kocher on August 8, 2008.

Mrs. Kocher was educated in Orangeville and graduated from the former Orangeville High School in 1942.  She had been employed by the former J.C. Penney Store in Bloomsburg in her younger years.  Later she worked for the former Char-Mund Nursing Home in Orangeville and more recently for the Bon-Ton Store in Bloomsburg.

She was a member of the Orangeville United Church where she was a member of the Women's Guild and the Church Choir.  She was also a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and a life member of the Columbia County Covered Bridges Association.

Mrs. Kocher enjoyed being a homemaker and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was known for her cooking, baking, reading and sewing.

Surviving are her four children:  Richard R. Kocher, Orangeville; Ronald W. Kocher and his wife, Liz, of Orangeville; Cynthia L. Levan and her husband, Dean, of Bloomsburg; Jill M. Pennington Kocher and her companion, Mark Mensch, of Catawissa; seven grandchildren:  Layne and Lance Kocher, Matthew Sanders, Miranda Kocher, Adam and Brad Good, Janese Crawford Chrisco; eight great grandchildren; Siblings:  Helen Ann Davis and her husband, Dale, of Bloomsburg; Dale Thomas and his wife, Bernie, of Bloomsburg; Shirley Bower, of Sweet Valley; Doris Creveling of Bloomsburg; John Thomas, of Bloomsburg; Roselyn Smith, of Bloomsburg.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by the following siblings:  Paul, David, Hervey and Donald Thomas; Dorothy Creveling and Deanna Stauffer.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 16th, 2019 at 12 Noon at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with the Rev. Stephen D. Engelhardt, officiating.  Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville.  A Viewing will be held Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at McMichael's.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Orangeville United Church, P.
