Nancy H. Myers, age 80, of Derrs Road, Benton, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at her Jackson Twp. home. She was a lifelong resident of Derrs.
Born November 13, 1938 in Jackson Twp., she was the daughter of the late Arden P. and Elsie (Kinney) Heath. Nancy graduated from Benton High School in 1956.
Nancy married her loving husband Harry Edwin Myers on July 13, 1957 and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on November 2, 2007.
Nancy worked at the Heritage House Restaurant, Orangeville as a hostess, waitress and cook, L & K Mills, Benton as a bookkeeper, she was a Census Field Supervisor in 1990 and 2000. She later worked for the National Institute of Health as an interviewer for DNA Study and Head Start Interviewer and Penn State Co-Op Extension as Program Assistant and Child Care Certification.
Nancy was a lifelong member of the Derrs Christian Church, a 35 year Derrs Community 4-H Club Leader, the church treasurer for 35 years as well as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Leader. She was a member of the Benton Red Hat Society, the Benton Women's Club and the Friendship Group.
She enjoyed to read, write poems, do word search and jigsaw puzzles, research family genealogy and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her four children; Alayne wife of Randy Laubach of Stillwater, Janice wife of Tom Sworen of Harrisburg, Lisa wife of Larry Neely of Benton, Kevin Myers and wife Rebecca of Benton; four grandchildren, Jason Laubach, Tara Laubach, Kristen Sworen, Caitlin Sworen; three sisters, Yvonne Starr of San Antonio, TX, Beverly Johnson of Lake Winola, Gloria wife of Hubert Valencik of Mechanicsburg as well as several nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S.R. 487).
Funeral services will begin on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., Benton with her pastor, Rev. Robert K. Andrews, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Jackson Cemetery, Derrs.
