Robert L. "Bob" Schlichter

November 9, 1934 ~ June 6, 2019 (age 84)

Robert L. "Bob" Schlichter, 84, of Elk Grove Road, Benton, died early Thursday morning, June 6th, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he had been a patient since May 24th.  

Born November 9, 1934 in Limerick, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Earl R. and Eva A. (Gauger) Schlichter.   He and his wife, H. Lorraine (Neiman) Schlichter, would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on August 22nd.

Mr. Schlichter was employed by the Keystone Drawn and Steel Mill in Spring City for 25 years.  In 1977, he moved to the Benton area where he worked as a dairy farmer until his retirement.

He attended Christ United Methodist Church of Central where he was a member of the Men's Group and he also attended Benton Christian Church.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and in his younger days water skiing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Lorraine, are his five children:  Robert G. Schlichter and his wife, Robin, of Parkerford, PA; Harry Kevin Schlichter and his wife, Faith, of Benton; Richard W. Schlichter and his wife, Linda, of Bloomsburg; Karen L. Levengood and her husband, Allen O., of Summerville, TN; Lucinda A. Drumheller and her husband, Kent, of Benton; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, two brothers:  Lawrence "Larry" Schlichter, of Upper Providence Twp., PA; and Richard Schlichter, of Florida; and a sister, Ruth Bieler, of Macungie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers:  Earl and Charles Schlichter and by a sister, Doris M. "Dolly" Ziegler.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, June 9th, 2019 at 2 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, (S. R. 487), Benton, with Rev. Howard W.
