Timothy Hirneisen Obituary

Timothy L."Tim" Hirneisen, 76, of Berwick (Salem Township), died late Sunday evening, December 29th, 2019 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital where he had been a patient since December 1st.

Born November 17, 1943 in Hopeland, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Earl W. Hirneisen who died in 1965 and Blanche (Reedy) Hirneisen, who died in 1982.  He and his wife, Louise H. (Moore) Hirneisen, celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on June 20th.

Tim was a 1961 graduate of Ephrata High School and served in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserves, attaining the rank of Corporal.

He was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper and retired from the Shickshinny barracks in January 1992 after 25 years of service.

Tim was a member of the Stillwater Christian Church.  He was also a member of the Retired State Police Association of Pennsylvania and the National Fraternal Order of Police and AARP. 

An avid golfer, he enjoyed sports and was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  He was also an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his pets.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Louise, are his four children:  Tony L. Hirneisen and his wife, Brenda, of Berwick; Tina L. Bujno and her husband, Stephen, of Adamstown; Teri L. Witchey and her husband, Kent, of Bloomsburg, and Jesse Slusser, of Berwick.  Also surviving are ten grandchildren:  Christopher, Hope, Brittney, Nicole, Christi, Stephanie, Taylor, Spencer, Sebastian and Gabrielle; eleven great grandchildren:  Gigi, Emmy, Aubrey, Hannah, Joey, Max, Savannah, Taylor, Claire, Cassondra and Jaiden.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hirneisen; two grandchildren:  Aaron and Dylan; a sister, who died in infancy and by a step-daughter, Christine Renee Slusser.

Funeral Services and Military Honors will be held Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at 12 Noon at the Stillwater Christian Church with Pastors Jason Simpkins, Scott Lyons and Jeff Farley, officiating.  Viewing will be held Saturday morning from 10 AM until the time of the Service at noon at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Stillwater Christian Church, 39 McMichael Street, Stillwater, PA 17878. Private burial will be in Elan Memorial Park at the convenience of the Family.  The McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., Benton, is honored to serve the Hirneisen Family.  For online condolences or for additional information, please visit our website:  www.mcmichaelfuneralhome.com
