Vida H. Creveling, age 93, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019, at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born on Saturday, October 10, 1925 in Benton, a daughter of the late Owen and Fannie (Arter) Hartman. Vida graduated from Benton High School in 1943 and expanded her education by attending Bloomsburg State College graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in education.
She taught first grade in the Berwick elementary school for many years and was a self-employed hairdresser before going off to college.
Vida was a member of the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg. She enjoyed reading, traveling around the world and visited every state in the country except Oregon, she would often joke that there was nothing in Oregon that she cared to see. She especially enjoyed her trips into New York City to see the Broadway shows with her granddaughter, Stephanie.
In addition to her parents, Vida was preceded in death by three husbands; Earl Richendrfer, Charles Horn, Ernest Creveling, a grandson Shawn Richendrfer in 2010, a sister Vivian Derrick, two brothers, Howard Hartman and Owen Hartman, Jr.
Survivors include her son, Stephen E. Richendrfer and his wife Darlene of Bloomsburg, a granddaughter, Stephanie L. wife of Bill Ashton of York, stepdaughters, Teresa wife of Jim Holland, Julia wife of Todd Lehman, Hollie Creveling and her wife Analice Costa; step grandchildren, Adam Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Spencer Johnson, Taylor Holland, Grant Holland, Emily Holland, Ross Lehman, Reed Lehman, Laura Gilberti, Isiah Costa Creveling, Analicia Costa Creveling, one step great grandson, Gabryel Johnson, a sister Beverly wife of Arnold Piatt of Benton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, (S.R. 487), Benton.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Eileen M. Chapman, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
