A. Clair Harvey, of Benton, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, December 11th, 2019 at his home.
Born November 22, 1932 in Benton, he was a son of the late Andrew and Florence (Stevens) Harvey. He and his loving wife, Marlene J. (Shultz) Harvey, celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on September 26th.
Clair was a 1951 graduate of Benton High School. His early work years were spent at the Benton Dairy and then 20 years with Philadelphia Dairy and 27 years with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture as a milk sanitarian and rating officer for the US Department of Health. He retired in 1996.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and the years spent in the cabin he owned at Shunk, PA. He was also a founding member of the Bee Cellar Hunting Club in Stillwater where he was a member for many years. He was a longtime president of the Fishing Creek Sportsman's Club and a past member of the Bloomsburg Elks and the Benton Kiwanis Club. He also enjoyed his time assisting George and Ben Kapp with their auctions.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Marlene, are his two sons: Dennis A. Harvey, of Benton and Rodney C. Harvey and wife, Margaret, of Benton; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, James E. Harvey and his wife, Gloria, of Benton and a number of nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Carl and Arden Harvey.
Services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11 AM at the Stillwater Christian Church, with Pastors Jason Simpkins and Scott Lyons, officiating. A Visitation will be held Saturday, the 21st from 9:30 until the time of the Service at 11:00 at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Stillwater Christian Church, 39 McMichael Street, Stillwater, PA 17878 or to the Fishing Creek Sportsman Club, P. O.
