Anna Marie Elizabeth (Valletta) Mazzuca

Anna Marie Elizabeth (Valletta)  Mazzuca, of Talmar Road, Benton, died early Wednesday morning, September 30th, 2020 at her home.  She had been in declining health for the past few years. 

Born June 4, 1938 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Simone) Valletta.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Louis P. Mazzuca, on August 13, 2017.

Anna Marie was a 1957 graduate of the Hallohan Catholic High School in Philadelphia.  She began her work career as a stenographer for the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot.  She and her husband later moved to their farm in Pine Township where she was very active in her church and the community.  After moving to Pine Township, she spent thirteen years as a day care provider; eight years at the Ahearn Garden Center in Bloomsburg, and six summers cooking at the Camp Lavigne Boy Scout Camp. 

She was also a well known volunteer in the community working at the Benton Food Bank, the Northern Columbia Community and Cultural Center Thrift Shop,  and the Stillwater Christian Church Clothing Giveaway. 

Anna Marie was a very active member of Christ the King Catholic Church of Benton as well as the Legion of Mary.  She also was a member of the Pine Homemaker's Group.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and walks around the farm.

Surviving are her three children:  Diana D. Brown, of Benton; Anita M. Albertson and her husband, Steven, of  Millville and David L. Mazzuca and his wife, Shelley, of West Friendship, MD.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren;  a brother, Louis Valletta, of New Jersey and a sister, Dolores DeRusso, of Virginia.    

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 5th, 2020 at 12 Noon at Christ the King Catholic Church, 300 Mendenhall Lane, Benton, with Father Olusola Adewole,  as Celebrant.  A Visitation will be held at the Church from 11 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at Noon.   Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Christ The King Catholic Church, 300 Mendenhall Lane, P. O. Box 297, Benton, PA 17814.
