Arden F. Robbins, 92, of Mt. Pleasant Township, died Sunday evening, March 15, 2020 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born January 22, 1928 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Samuel Guy Robbins, who died Dec. 11, 1967 and Florence M. (McMichael) Robbins, who died Aug. 6, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. (Martz) Robbins, of 61 years, on May 26, 2015.
Mr. Robbins was a 1945 graduate of Millville High School and then served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and later served in the National Guards.
He owned and operated the family farm in Mt. Pleasant Township for many years and had also done excavating and contracting work. He also drove school bus for the Central Columbia School District.
Mr. Robbins was a member of the Canby Lutheran Church where he had served on the Church Council. He was a former member of the Bloomsburg Moose Lodge and the Bloomsburg American Legion.
He had a great love for horses and enjoyed horseback riding and trail riding.
Surviving are his four children: Gene A. Robbins; David S. Robbins and his wife, Pamela, all of Mt. Pleasant Township; Darene H. Bloom, of Williamsport and Joanne F. Robbins of Hellertown. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Lorene Miller, Shickshinny Lake and a brother, Dean A. Robbins and his wife, Hazel, of Bloomsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, and wife, Ruth, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Ann Robbins and by a sister, Darl Charlotte Bason on Feb. 5, 2006.
Private Services along with Military Honors will be held Friday at 2 PM at the Canby Lutheran Church. The Rev. Stanley L. Bower will officiate.
A family visitation will be held from 1 P.M. until the time of the service at 2 PM at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Canby Lutheran Church, 529 Millertown Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
Due to the current health crisis, there will also be a meal with a Celebration of Arden's life at Canby Lutheran Church at a time to be announced in the future. The McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., of Benton, is honored to serve the Robbins family.
