Audrey V. (Sorber) Rule, 91, formerly of rural Shickshinny, died Sunday, December 26, 2021 at the Bonham Nursing Center where she had been a resident since 2011.
Born January 26, 1930 in Union Township, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Glen M. and Marjorie (Sorber) Sorber. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. "Bob" Rule in 1976.
Mrs. Rule was a graduate of Shickshinny High School, Class of 1947.
In her younger years, she worked for the Ross and Brown Hardware Store in Shickshinny. Following the passing of her husband, Bob, she went to the Jo-Mar Beauty School in Bloomsburg and then worked with her daughter in her beauty shop. She also worked with her son-in-law, Sal Marsico, at Nino's Restaurant in Shickshinny as a cook for many years.
She was best known for taking care of more than 40 foster children over the years.
Mrs. Rule was a member of the Shickshinny Baptist Church and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for her cooking and baking. She was also an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. She resided with her daughter Cindy and son-in-law, Dwane in Ft. Mills, SC for 15 years and one of her favorite hobbies was shopping with her daughter, Cindy.
Surviving are her two daughters: Cindy A. Hess and her husband, Dwane; Wanda Seigfreid and her husband, Gary, all of Shickshinny; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Bob, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Miller and by a foster son, Tommy Bogaczyk.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 31st, 2021 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Rev. Roger C. Noss, Jr., Mt. Moriah United Methodist Charge, officiating. Burial will be in Sorber Cemetery, Reyburn. A Viewing will be held Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 at McMichael's. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Activities Department, Bonham Nursing Center, 477 Bonnieville Road, Stillwater, PA 17878.
