Betty Zane (McHenry) Unbewust, 97, of Benton, died Saturday, March 7th, 2020 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Joseph and Jill Pascale, in Manassas, Virginia.
Born November 13, 1922 in Fishing Creek Township, she was a daughter of the late Lewellyn and Mary Ellen (Thomas) McHenry. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, John Unbewust, on August 26, 2009.
Zane enjoyed being a homemaker and assisting her husband, John, with his bulk milk tank business for many years.
She was a lifelong and active member of Benton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, served on the Church board as secretary and taught the nursery class.
Zane was an avid golfer and was a member of Mill Race Golf Club in Benton where she had gotten a hole in one. She was also an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle and had belonged to five card clubs in the area. She was also a member of the Northern Columbia Community and Cultural Center of Benton.
In her younger years, she was involved with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Her hobbies included quilting and knitting. She especially enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished the time spent with her family.
Surviving are her three children: Yvonne Lenbergs of Palo Alto, CA, John Unbewust of La Jolla, CA, and Jill Pascale (Joseph) of Manassas, VA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Erika Lenbergs Morlini (Tom) of Los Altos, CA; Ellen Lenbergs of Los Angeles, CA; Sarah Unbewust Bailey (Josh), of Charleston, SC; Jessica Unbewust, Thousand Oaks, CA; Nicholas Pascale (Tara), of Manassas, VA; Joseph Pascale (Dominique), Annapolis, MD; and Elizabeth Jones (Taylor), of Birmingham, AL;
eight great grandsons; a brother, T. Jules McHenry, of Arizona; and a sister, Pat Braaten (Richard), of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, John, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack W. McHenry on May 28, 1983 and by a sister, Dottie Rabb, on June 27, 2018.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, August 22nd, 2020 at 11 A. M. at the Benton Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. David A. Mansfield, her Pastor, officiating.
