Barbara A. (Burkert)
Dowhower Fish, of rural Orangeville, (Fishing Creek Township) died early
Tuesday morning, December 21st, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-n-law,
in Derry Township, Montour County.
Born in Blandon, Lancaster
County, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Pearl (Reinert) Burkert. She and her husband, Loren L. Fish, were
married on December 21st, 1989.
Mrs. Fish was a graduate of
Millersburg High School in Lancaster County.
She and her husband owned
and operated the former Hickory Joe's Restaurant and Hickory Joe's Boarding
Home in Forks. She retired in 2000 when
they closed the restaurant.
An entrepreneur at heart,
she had also operated the Triple D Restaurant with her late husband, Dallas D.
Dowhower, Jr., in Bloomsburg prior to opening Hickory Joe's and also had a
concession stand at the Bloomsburg Fair.
She loved to cook and bake
and her passion in life was to make people happy with her cooking. She also enjoyed dancing, bowling and spending time with her children
and grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to
her husband, Loren, are her two daughters:
Carol L. Dowhower Burns of Ft. Myers, Florida; Dorie A. Dowhower Henrie
and her husband, Christopher, Danville; two grandchildren: Kristin L. Burns and Elijah J. Burns; two
great grandchildren: Lyla Ennis and
Jonah Jones.
Along with her parents, she
was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Lunger and by her son-in-law, James
M. Burns.
Memorial Services will be
held Thursday, December 30th, 2021 at 2 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc.,
4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487).
A Visitation will be held Thursday, December 30th, from 1 PM until the
time of the Service at 2:00 at McMichael's.
The McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., of Benton is honored to serve the Fish
